We are looking for Energy Champions to participate in the study. If you are interested in becoming a Champion, please contact Alex or come by the Housing Office. Or you may click below to download the Consent Form to participate.
The Pawnee Nation was awarded 2.6 million dollars to promote renewable energy, geothermal and to implement a sensor placement study throughout our community. The PN Housing Authority is a stakeholder or partner with the Nation along with others that will help to meet project goals during six phases of the project.
Phase 1 focuses on the accepted standards for project management: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Control, and Closing.
Phase 2 focuses on community planning and capacity building involving three elements: Outreach, Education, and Job Training.
Phase 3 of the project incorporates the installation of energy sensors that include smart home thermostats. A crucial step that ensures that the pre-impact baseline can be established early in the Project term.
Phase 4 continues the process of deployment of DER infrastructure elements throughout the community. The utility grid will be required to undergo a full engineering design review to ensure that the power lines can support the level of energy that the Community Solar Garden Array can generate in a peak generation period.
Phase 5 is when the operational phase planning begins early on after phase one is complete. There are several tasks that are part of operations. These include: Interconnection and/or Net-Metering Agreements, Community Education & Job Training, Operational Support System, and DES Membership.
Phase 6 is the final phase of the project and is the result of the cumulative data that will be collected through the sensors, DER statistics, and operational support systems.
Alex presented on the REPP grant at the PNHA Community Meeting to highlight Who, What When, Where, Why, and How the sensor and smart thermostats will be deployed. Also talking about weatherization resources out there.
Our REPP Team attended the Pawnee Community Chamber of Commerce Roundtable in March to introduce the grant to the Business Community of Pawnee.
To get our Pawnee Nation Housing Authority Tenants involved, we have planned a cookout to share information and gather a list of Energy Champions who want to participate.
If you are interested but just need more information on how this program will benefit you and your community, please contact Alex via email or office phone. He would love to do a face to face meeting or virtual meeting.

The Rural Energy Pilot Program is an energy transition platform designed to assist with the clean and sustainable energy transition of Pawnee. Providing the Nation with more diverse energy options.
Sensors collect real time data on where energy is being consumed which enables users to pinpoint over-consumption of electricity. The thermostats allow you to program temperatures to save energy and money when you're not home.
The sensors will be attached to your electric panel and appliances. The thermostats will be installed in your house.
A licensed electrician will professionally install the sensors and thermostats.
Yes. The sensors will require Wi-Fi access from your home to collect the data. There will also be a privacy form signed between the head of household and the REP Program.
Email alex.mcsheridan@pawneenationhousing.org or call the Housing Authority at 918-762-3454.
The sensors will give you real time data to determine where energy is being consumed in your home. This program will help you make the most energy efficient weatherization choice for your home.
Requirements: 18 years of age or older, willing and able to travel, and have the entrepreneurial spirit
Program: Eight individuals will be chosen to go up to Pacific Northwest College where they will be certified in solar panel installation and construction. This certification can also lead to business opportunities down the line.
